Ukrainians abroad are individuals who have Ukrainian ethnic origin and have been granted the appropriate official status, which is confirmed by a special certificate. This status provides its holders with a number of important advantages:

● The right to immigrate to Ukraine without quota restrictions

● Access to a five-year multiple-entry visa without prior invitation

● Employment in Ukraine on equal terms with citizens

The procedure for obtaining the status of a foreign Ukrainian

The status of a foreign Ukrainian is granted by the National Commission for Foreign Ukrainians under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. To obtain it, you need to:

1. Reach the age of 16

2. Submit an application and a package of documents to the diplomatic mission of Ukraine abroad

3. Pay the administrative fee

4. Wait for the decision of the commission (up to 90 days)

Important: The procedure is voluntary and can be initiated exclusively by the person himself.

How can a foreign Ukrainian obtain a permanent residence permit in Ukraine?

In order to obtain a permanent residence permit, a foreign Ukrainian must personally submit the following documents to the State Migration Service:

● Original and copy of the passport

● A certified translation of the passport into Ukrainian

● Certificate of no criminal record

● Medical certificate of absence of chronic infectious diseases, alcohol and drug addiction

● Receipt of payment of the consular fee

Important: There are no quotas for foreign Ukrainians to obtain a permanent residence permit and Ukrainian citizenship.

Application processing time and further steps

The application process can take up to one year. After receiving an immigration permit, a person can apply for a permanent residence permit, which:

● Valid for 10 years with the possibility of extension

● Requires registration of the place of residence within 30 days after receipt
