This initiative of the Ukrainian government was introduced in October 2023. It was created to simplify the procedure for exchanging a driving licence for those Ukrainians who are currently abroad and cannot return to Ukraine.

After the launch of the service, the delivery of a driving licence was available only for Ukrainians in Poland, but today the list of countries has been significantly expanded.

Delivery of a driving licence abroad: what do you know?

The international delivery service is available for drivers:

● whose permanent or temporary driving licence has expired;
● who have changed their personal data (surname, name, etc.);
● who have damaged their driving licence (plastic card is worn off, inscriptions on the licence are illegible, etc.).

Currently, international delivery of driving licences abroad is available to the following 30 countries: Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova, Italy, Spain, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Montenegro, Belgium, Croatia, Georgia, Switzerland, Sweden, Greece, Norway, Portugal, the Netherlands, France, Bulgaria, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Austria, Finland and Denmark.

How do I order the delivery of a driving licence through my online account?

To order the delivery of a document, you must:

● log in to the driver's account using Bank ID or Diia. Signature’;
● select the ‘Order a service’ and ‘Renewal and exchange of a driving licence’ items;
● select the reason for exchanging the driving licence;
● select international delivery by Ukrposhta and provide contact details;
● check the entered data, confirm it with an electronic signature and pay for the service.

Delivery time is about 15 days.

The cost of the service is about UAH 311 for the form and approximately UAH 960 for delivery.

A reminder for Ukrainian drivers abroad!

To drive legally on the roads of other countries in your own car, you need a valid Green Card policy.

The Green Card is an international insurance policy for motorists. If you have travelled from Ukraine in your own car, you know that this policy is mandatory for crossing the border. The main thing is to keep track of the policy's validity period and renew it in time.

The insurance company will compensate for any damage that may be caused abroad by a car with a Green Card policy. It's important to remember that damage caused to third parties is covered, but the coverage does not apply to the person responsible for the accident.

It is better to take out insurance online because it is quick and easy. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can buy a Green Card from a licensed insurer. Packages are available for different periods from 15 days to 1 year for cars and trucks, trailers and semi-trailers for trucks, as well as motorcycles and scooters.
