In Ukraine, motor vehicle insurance for a period of less than one year is only permitted for the following vehicles: unregistered vehicles — for the period until their registration, temporarily registered vehicles — for the period until their permanent registration, vehicles registered in foreign countries — for the period of their stay in Ukraine.

Vehicles that do not meet these criteria must take out an insurance policy for one year.
