The revised draft of the new law on mobilization, registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, defines a number of significant changes in the seizure of vehicles for the needs of the army. This is stated in a post by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram.

Ukrainians may have their cars confiscated for the needs of the AFU

The new law stipulates that military transportation duty is established to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations with vehicles and equipment. This responsibility extends to central and local executive authorities, other government agencies, and citizens who own vehicles.

Outlining the specifics of the new draft law, Zheleznyak emphasized the importance of the clause on the seizure of vehicles and restrictions on their use. Although this may include a limited list of vehicles, such as tractors, agricultural and construction equipment, businesses in the logistics, construction and agriculture sectors should be careful, in particular.

"When I read the text, I immediately noticed a point that few people emphasized: the seizure of vehicles and restrictions on their use. Of course, maybe it's a small list of vehicles, I see tractors, agricultural machinery and construction equipment here, but it doesn't look good," the MP wrote.

It remains to be seen how extensive the seizure of motor vehicles will be, as the bill has just been registered in the Verkhovna Rada but has not yet been adopted.

Prohibition of car transportation and transfer of ownership

According to the text of the draft law, after the general mobilization is announced, it will be prohibited to send vehicles intended for manning the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations to other regions and abroad. 

The transfer of ownership of these vehicles to other persons will also be restricted. In addition, the use of these vehicles as collateral or other actions that make it impossible to transfer them to military formations will be prohibited.
