Europe is warned of a high risk of terrorist attacks during the Christmas holidays caused by the war between Israel and the Hamas organization. This is reported by SchengenVisaInfo.com.

European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, emphasized that the polarization in society caused by the conflict, along with the approaching Christmas season, creates a serious potential for terrorist attacks in the EU.

According to RFI, Commissioner Johansson noted that in the context of military conflict and social tensions, there is a significant risk of terrorist attacks in Europe, especially as the holiday season approaches. 

At the same time, she did not disclose specific details or information that could serve as a basis for her warning.

"In the context of the war between Israel and Hamas and the polarization it causes in our society, as well as the approaching holiday season, there is a huge risk of terrorist attacks in the European Union," Johansson said.

The EU Commissioner also noted that the European Commission will allocate an additional 30 million euros to improve security in vulnerable areas across the Union, focusing in particular on places where important religious sites are located.

It is emphasized that the relevant warning came after an investigation by the French authorities into the recent attack that took place near the Eiffel Tower in Paris. 

According to preliminary data, the attacker, who seems to have been linked to the Islamic State terrorist group, committed the attack, killing one tourist and injuring others with a hammer.

In addition, in August of this year, there was also a terrorist attack in the French city of Aras, where a man suspected of Islamic radicalism killed his former teacher and injured three others.
