ISP-Karte: Wer hat während Stromausfällen Internet?

Last year's emergency power outages forced providers to invest money and resources in energy-efficient solutions that will provide the population with Internet access in the event of blackouts. However, not all providers in the country are ready for this. That is why the Ministry of Digital Transformation together with LUN Misto have created an interactive map where you can check whether you will have Internet access in the event of a blackout.

Where is the map of providers available and how to use it?

Currently, the map is available only for Kyiv residents, but the Ministry's press service said they plan to scale it to other major cities of Ukraine.

The map allows users to:

- check the readiness of a particular provider for power outages;

- find the providers closest to their homes that can provide Internet access for 4, 8, 12, 24 or 72 hours in the event of prolonged power outages

- find out the cost of fiber optic installation and the monthly fee for the service;

- submit an application to the provider for fiber optic installation;

- add a comment or review on the provider's work and the availability of the Internet during power outages.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation also urges Ukrainians to take care of a blackout-resistant Internet in advance and apply for a connection now.

"Go to the map and check how long the Internet will work from your provider in the event of blackouts. I advise you to take care of the energy-resistant Internet right now to continue studying and working despite everything," Mykhailo Fedorov said in his post.

How many Ukrainians will have access to the Internet during blackouts?

According to Yuriy Matsyk, Director of the Fixed Internet Development Department at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, only 37% of Ukrainian subscribers have access to a PON connection, which provides Internet access in the event of a power outage.

In Kyiv, the percentage is very low - 9%. On the contrary, in Kyiv, Rivne and Ternopil regions, about 60% of subscribers have an optical connection that is resistant to power outages.
