Applying for a visa to the UK will soon become more expensive. The Kingdom is raising the cost of some types of visas for tourists and students. The relevant information was released by the British Home Office, Euronews reports.

New cost of a visa to Britain: what is known

It is noted that the prices of most work and tourist visas will increase by 15%. The new tariffs will come into force in October this year.

The cost of a visa to the UK will also change for many categories of taxpayers. For example, the cost of visas for six months will be 115 pounds (or 133 euros). 

The price will also increase for two-year, five-year and ten-year visas. Applying for a student visa will also become more expensive, and it will cost 490 pounds (or 569 euros).

It is important to note that the cost of transit visas, which allow you to cross the border for a short time to change flights, will remain unchanged.

It is worth noting that the UK remains open to the standard visa regime prior to the Homes for Ukraine program for refugees, which was launched after the start of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. That is why the changes in tariffs apply to Ukrainians who intend to visit the UK for tourism or study.

Therefore, if you intend to apply for a visa to the UK in the near future, you should be prepared for the fact that it may cost more than you expected.

Updated rules for paid entry to the UK

In addition, the UK is introducing a new fee of 10 pounds. This entry permit is valid for two years. This new practice should come into force by the end of 2024.

Note that this requirement applies only to those travelers who can enter the UK without a visa. You also do not need to pay the 10 pounds if you have a residence, study or work permit.
