Nikola Tesla is a unique scientist who was many centuries ahead of his time. The outstanding Serbian physicist, engineer, rationalizer and inventor was born on July 10, 1856. Therefore, it is on this day that Nikola Tesla Day is celebrated all over the world. July 10 is also the Global Day of Energy Independence, a date also chosen in honor of Nikola Tesla.

Nikola Tesla's contribution to world science

Tesla owns numerous inventions in the fields of electricity and electrical engineering. He is the author of the theory of alternating current, he created the world's first electric motor with alternating current, and also made many other great discoveries that became decisive for the development of world technology. If it weren't for him, the world would not have learned what a magnetic field, a mast antenna, and other things are.

In 1895, thanks to Nikola Tesla's research, the world's largest hydroelectric plant at Niagara Falls was launched, which was equipped with generators developed by him.

Humanity also owes the existence of radio to Nikola Tesla, because he was the first person who was able to transmit radio signals over a long distance at that time - up to 50 km.

Tesla also created an electric submarine, a flying machine with vertical take-off, an electrodynamic induction lamp, a bladeless turbine, Tesla's ozone generator and made many other important discoveries.

Biography of Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856 in a small Croatian village. They say that the future inventor was born at exactly 00:00 on a stormy night.

Nikoli's family was big. Nikolay had two brothers and two sisters, his parents were members of the clergy.

The boy was interested in physics from childhood. At first he studied in one of the Croatian gymnasiums. After school, he graduated from the University in Graz, later he graduated from the Charles University in Prague.

In 1881, the physicist moved to Budapest and started working for a telegraph company. A year later, he moves to Paris, where he gets a place in the company of Thomas Edison (an outstanding American inventor and entrepreneur), here he creates an alternating current generator. In 1884, Nikola Tesla moved again, now to New York. He continues to collaborate with Edison, but not for long. Edison and Tesla could not agree on the future of alternating current. The first advocated the need for direct current only, while Nikola tried to prove the importance of alternating current.

Therefore, the inventor continues to cooperate with George Westinghouse, in his electrical engineering company "Westinghouse Electric". It was in this collaboration that Nikola Tesla showed himself as a talented inventor.

Westinghouse bought about 50 patents from Tesla at a total cost of $1,000.

He spent the end of his life in cheap hotels in poverty and loneliness. He died at the age of 86 without a penny in his pocket and forgotten by everyone.

● He was never married, because he believed that his family would distract him from work.

● Nikola Tesla slept only about two hours a day, the inventor worked the rest of his time.

● In the USA, in Silicon Valley, there is a monument to Tesla, built on the large scientific funds collected by fans. An interesting fact is that the monument is used to distribute free Wi-Fi.
