According to a survey conducted by the Razumkov Center, Ukrainians are divided in their attitude to the culture of boycott. Thus, some Ukrainian citizens believe that athletes, scientists and cultural figures should stay out of politics. Let's figure out together how Ukrainians feel about boycotting russians and what it can lead to.
Poll results: how Ukrainians' opinions on the boycott culture are divided
Overall, only 39.4% of Ukrainians supported the mass boycott culture. Thus:
● 22.8% of Ukrainian citizens fully support the boycott culture and believe that refusing to participate in events with russians should become the norm for Ukrainians;
● 18.6% of respondents do not consider it necessary and believe that Ukrainian cultural figures, artists, performers and athletes should act at their own discretion, based on their inner feeling;
● 16.6% of respondents are convinced that Ukrainians should refuse to attend only those events organized by the aggressor country or russians;
● 14.4% of respondents believe that well-known Ukrainian figures and athletes should not refuse to participate in events where russians are present;
● 13.9% support public events together with russians if the latter spoke out against the war and condemned moscow's actions;
● 13.7% of respondents could not answer the question.
What are the consequences of refusing to cut ties with the russians?
The culture of abolition and boycott is one of the stages of Ukraine's decolonization, and therefore an important step towards the country's independence. That is why the unwillingness of some Ukrainians to break mental and physical ties with russia, even after the occupation of the territories, constant shelling, murders, destruction of entire cities, and other heinous crimes, is a cause for concern among experts. After all, this could eventually lead to the fusion of a new electoral field of pro-russian sentiment among the population and in the political circle, even after Ukraine's victory.

When it comes to the attitude of Ukrainians towards the cultural space of russia, the vast majority of respondents agree with the need for a boycott. Thus:
● 49% of respondents fully agree with the need to boycott russian songs, movies, TV channels, books, media, blogs, etc.;
● 23% of respondents rather agree with this opinion than disagree;
● 10% of Ukrainians rather do not support the culture of content boycotts;
● 10% of respondents strongly disapproved of the boycott;
● 8% could not answer the question.
In addition, according to the results of the survey, specific groups were formed into which Ukrainians were divided:
● Group 1 consumes russian content of those performers, artists and bloggers who have publicly condemned the actions of the authorities and support Ukraine;
● Group 2 categorically does not consume russian content and considers it to be a legitimization of the invasion and killings, as well as a trap for Ukraine in the "russian world";
● Group 3 has a negative attitude to coercion and believes that refusal of russian content should be voluntary, as pressure on Ukrainians has the opposite effect;
● Group 4 continues to consume russian content, does not see a problem in this, and believes that the cultural field is not political.
We remind you! The content we consume has a direct impact on our worldview, and unfortunately, it also finances the aggressor's military machine.
