PR on the topic of peace in Ukraine is successfully used by the leaders of some countries. None of them has a clear position or proposals for negotiations, but they have repeatedly shown their favor for the russian government. Let's figure out together who is proposing peace agreements and why.

What peace plan has China proposed?

China is the main supporter of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Despite the fact that Western countries are actively emphasizing the need to quickly suppress russia's imperial ambitions, which China can help to do, China has chosen a different path. 

It is known that on May 16, the first stage of the "tour" to "resolve the Ukrainian crisis by all parties" began, during which the Chinese special representative visited Kyiv and personally spoke with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Chinese government is represented by Li Hui, a specialist in Eurasian affairs. What is interesting is that he is a former Chinese ambassador to moscow.

In the future, Li Hui is scheduled to travel to the EU and russia, where he will listen to the positions of all the leaders and make decisions on how to resolve the conflict. And given that this was the first study visit to Ukraine, which cannot even be considered the beginning of the negotiation process, this diplomacy may not even last for months.

In addition, it should be borne in mind that despite the fact that China is quite decisive in its position and has already taken the first steps, Ukraine has a negative experience of partnership with China. The PRC is the main beneficiary of the grain deal, but it has not taken any action to ensure the corridor's operation.

According to experts, today China is not interested in ending the war. It is more profitable for the country to let the conflict continue for years, but without active hostilities. Therefore, China's constant speculation on the topic of peace is just PR and an attempt to create a certain image in the international arena.

What is Hungary's position on the war in Ukraine?

Hungary is a satellite of the russian federation and the only European country that supports China's "peace plan" and actively emphasizes that relations between China and Europe should not deteriorate because of Ukraine. 

As a reminder, the Hungarian government has consistently blocked EU aid to Ukraine and vetoed sanctions against russia. Thus, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, Europe is suffering from military psychosis, and all the actions of EU leaders are only fueling the war, while China is the only one who has offered something to end the hostilities.

However, Hungary, for some reason, calls it a "unified peace plan," forgetting that Ukraine has long had a peace plan that includes only 10 points. And the first and most important of them is the withdrawal of russian forces from the territory of the state. 

Who else actively supports a peaceful resolution of the conflict?

In addition to the supporters of the Chinese peace plan, other countries are actively supporting a diplomatic settlement, including: South Africa, Egypt, the Republic of Congo, Uganda, Senegal, Zambia, Brazil, and the Vatican. However, none of the leaders of these countries has proposed concrete steps to achieve peace.

So it seems that all the supporters of peace agreements prefer to talk about a peaceful resolution of the conflict rather than take active steps towards the "goal". And one of the proofs of this is the reaction of the countries that so loudly declare the need for peace to another russian act of terrorism that occurred on the eve of the visit of the Chinese representative to Kyiv to discuss the "action plan for a peaceful settlement of the conflict".

Thus, none of these countries expressed condemnation of another massive attack on the Ukrainian capital by the russian side. This ultimately gives the impression that for them, horrific terrorist attacks are a common and normal practice, and these actions of the russian federation are fully tolerated in accordance with international humanitarian law, which they always emphasize.
